Telangana/Hyderabad: Health Minister Harish Rao has announced that 1,400 assistant professor posts will soon be filled in the state’s medical colleges. He said that with the filling of these posts, the medical services in the state will be better. It was announced that they are bringing MCH (Medical College and Hospital) hospitals with 250 beds in Nimes and 200 beds in Gandhi. He said that facilities like KCR kit, midwifery system, Amma Odi vehicles and nutrition kit have been provided to the pregnant women. To this extent, Minister Harish Rao participated and spoke at the infection prevention and awareness program organized at Petlaburuju Hospital in Old Basti in the city on Monday. The Minister asked the concerned authorities and medical staff to ensure that the number of deaths does not increase in Petlaburuju Hospital as more critical cases are received.

He said that the state has improved a lot in terms of maternal and child deaths. He said that due to the measures taken by the government, deliveries in government hospitals in the state have increased from 30 percent to 61 percent. He revealed that the number of maternal and child care hospitals is increasing in the state. In the case of MMR, it has been reduced from 92 per lakh deliveries in 2014 to 43 in 2022. The Minister explained that once Telangana was at the fifth and sixth position in terms of maternal and child mortality, but now it is at the third position with 43 maternal and child deaths per one lakh per year. Compared to the national average, we are better. In the case of neonatal, it was reduced to 15 per thousand in 2022 if it was 25 in 2014.

Nutrition kits for 4 lakh pregnant women
The minister said that it has been decided to give nutrition kits to 4 lakh pregnant women across the state. It has been revealed that 82 percent of births in Sangareddy district i.e. an average of 1,400 births per month took place in government hospitals. After giving birth, it is advised to check if the babies have any infections. He called upon the concerned officials and staff to work harder for the control of maternal and child mortality and keep the state as number one in the country. They said that they are trying to find the reasons for the deaths of religious children and solve them.

He clarified that the government is ready to provide the necessary infrastructure. It is stated that there is lack of transport facilities or deaths are occurring in tribal areas and the staff at the field level has been alerted. The minister advised the officials that if the problems of pregnant women can be identified at the basic level, the number of deaths can be reduced. On this occasion, Minister Harish Rao spoke to the patients in Petlaburuj hospital. They were asked about the medical services provided in the hospital.
