TS HC verdict on BRS MLA Vanama Venkateswara rao

Bhadradri Kothagudem: On Tuesday, the State High Court declared the election of BRS MLA Vanama Venkateswara Rao invalid. Former MLA Jalagam Venkatarao approached the High Court accusing Vanama of giving false certificates in the affidavit submitted during the election.

After a long trial, the court declared Vanama’s election invalid and Jalagam Venkatarao, who stood second, as the MLA of Kothagudem. Vanama was fined Rs 5 lakh for submitting a false affidavit. Meanwhile, Vanama Venkateswara Rao was elected as an MLA in the assembly elections held in 2018. However, in 2019, Jalagam Venkatarao filed a petition in the High Court challenging Vanama’s election.
