HYDERABAD: A 16-year-old student from Hyderabad will present the youth manifesto on behalf of 35,000 teenagers from 54 countries at the CO global climate conference in Glasgow.
As one of the few under-18 students in the world to receive official certification, Pavan Trishu Vijay Kumar, a student of the Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet, will be presenting the #Decarbonize: Global Youth Manifesto and talk about his work in the “blue-zone,” which is restricted to official conference delegates.
World leaders and official representatives from multinational NGOs and industry are participating in the conference between November 3 and November 10.
“I have gained access to the blue zone of the CO where all the world leaders would speak and preside. I will be making a presentation on climate change and will make suggestions to global leaders on how they can combat climate change,” Pavan told TOI.
The Class 12 student said that a delegation of 15 global students, including himself, will take part in the conference. “While they will be representing their own countries, I will be representing all of them,” he said, adding that Taking IT Global, an NGO, is facilitating his participation in the conference.
Pavan to meet global leaders
He was selected on the basis of his active participation in global climate change issues on online platforms. The #Decarbonize: Global Youth Manifesto is one of the world’s largest synthesis of education and action focussed on climate change by children under the age of 18.
In addition to presenting their work, Pavan and five other students will be meeting global leaders, heads of multi-national corporations, visit local schools featured by global non-profit organizations, and hosting interactive video series.
