Hyderabad: The dissension in the Telangana BJP over Bandi Sanjay is intensifying as MLA Etala Rajender and other leaders are demanding a change in the party leadership before the assembly elections. These leaders argue that Bandi Sanjay’s policies are failing to gain popular support.
Etala Rajender, chairman of the committee responsible for bringing in leaders from other parties, recently met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi. He highlighted the growing disaffection and division in the state unit of the BJP. Rajender said that under the leadership of Bandi Sanjay, the party has not prioritized its cadre stability, which is crucial for electoral success. He proposed a six-point reform plan for the party, including establishing coordination between old and new leaders.
Many leaders in the party disagree with Bandi Sanjay’s strict Hindutva stance. In the wake of the BJP’s significant defeat in Karnataka due to its aggressive Hindutva agenda and communal divide, it has been suggested that a more moderate leader be appointed as Telangana state president. It is reported that the BJP high command is planning to consult Bandi Sanjay regarding this matter. Etala Rajender strongly opposed the promotion of religious issues in Telangana considering the adverse consequences in Karnataka. The BJP high command is considering the issues raised by the dissident leaders.
The Congress party is observing the differences in Telangana BJP. Looking to seize opportunities. It is clear that there is deep dissatisfaction in the ranks of the BJP.
