Siddipet: State Finance and Health Minister Harish Rao said that Bonala festival is being celebrated in Siddipet town as a reflection of the culture and traditions of Telangana in celebration of Ashadha month. The people are celebrating Bonala festival very happily irrespective of caste and religion. Minister Harish Rao said that he prayed to the goddess that the crops would grow and all the people would be happy and prosperous.

State Minister Harish Rao made it clear that not only Telangana state, but also Telangana residents of America, New Zealand, Australia, Europe and different countries are celebrating Bonala festival all over the world and trying to preserve the culture and tradition of our region and people. To this extent, they attended the Bonala fair festival held at Sri Renuka Ellamma temple in the fifth ward of the town on Sunday and visited the goddess and performed special pooja.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that the festival of Bonala is a festival celebrated by the people of Telangana in a very traditional way in this month of Ashada. It is said that in this festival, sisters offer bona in their traditional way. He said that he would pray to the Goddess to protect all the people from evil spirits and keep them healthy. He said that it is our responsibility to protect the tradition passed down from generation to generation, no matter how much we read, travel to the country and abroad, we all should work together to preserve this tradition so that our customs and traditions can be passed on to future generations. A large number of devotees participate in the Bonala Utsavs of Vada Vadala Pochamma, Maisamma and Ellamma Ammavars in the town and seek the blessings of the goddesses. Devotees along with family members queue up to have a darshan of the village goddess Ammavari. At every temple, women are offering bonas to the Goddess in a big way amidst the beating of drums and clappers.
