Once again, Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay has heaped criticism on CM KCR. Speaking in Hyderabad on Tuesday, he lamented that the government had boasted of allocating and spending Rs 1,000 crore in the budget every year. He revealed that from 2017-18 to 2021-22, there was no actual expenditure on budget allocations to MBC Corporation. He said Rs 3,000 crore had been allocated to MBCs in the last four budgets, but Rs 350 crore was approved in the finance department and at least Rs 10 crore was not spent (actual cost Rs 7.10 crore). Apart from the existing 36 castes, another 15 castes are demanding to be included in the MBC list. He criticized the state government for considering their request and resolving it immediately and for not fulfilling the promise made by KCR as an assembly witness in 2017 that it would legitimize the BC sub-plan. In 2017, BC ministers and BC representatives met for three days to pass 210 resolutions and hand them over to the government.

He said that these resolutions have not been exceeded so far and if KCR’s promise to implement the BC sub-plan in 2017 is implemented, another Rs 10 billion would be added to the funds allocated for BC welfare. He lamented that since the formation of Telangana state, the government has been allocating only 2 and 3 per cent funds to BCs in the state budget. In the context of the 2018 Assembly elections, orders were issued to build self-respecting buildings for 146 BC castes, allocating Rs 53 crore for 73 acres of land. That the 34 per cent reservation for BCs in local institutions has been reduced to 18 per cent. Only three ministerial posts have been given to BCs who make up more than 50 per cent.

The state cabinet wants to have at least 8 BCs represented in the category as per the population ratio. He recalled that 27 BCs were given seats in Modi’s cabinet. For 12 SCs, 8 STs have been made cabinet ministers and given due respect to the grassroots. He commented that the Bharatiya Janata Party was credited with giving constitutional status to the National BC Commission by adding Articles 338B, 342A and 366 (26A) through the 102nd Amendment to the Constitution.
