Acknowledging the services rendered by them, Chief Minister KCR said that Telangana Ashas are being paid the highest salaries in the country. He said that there used to be a situation where sit-ins and protests were necessary to get wages on time, but without such a need, wages have been increased three times after the formation of Telangana, and currently they are paying Rs.9,750. The Minister directed Health Secretary Rizvi and Family Welfare Commissioner Shweta Mahanthi to conduct a comprehensive study and submit a report to give paid maternity leave to ASHA workers and second ANMs as it is given to other women employees. On Monday, Minister Harish Rao held a monthly review with Ashas and ANMs.

Speaking on this occasion, the Minister said that the Chief Minister is organizing the KCR Decade Festival in a festive atmosphere that will go down in history. He said that we are unveiling the wonderful progress made by our state in the last 9 years in front of the people department wise. As part of this, we are going to organize Telangana Medical Day on June 14. Everyone is asked to participate and make the program a success.

Government hospitals top in deliveries
Minister Harish Rao said that good results are coming due to the efforts of all of us in the health department. In the month of April, our government hospitals have created a record in the history of the country’s government hospitals. 69 percent stated that the government has achieved significant growth with hospital deliveries. It is a great thing that 70 percent of births in 16 districts take place in government hospitals. Special congratulations were given to the districts of Sangareddy (87), Narayan Pate (83), Medak (82) and Jogulamba Gadwal (81). He said that in 2014, only 30 percent of government hospital deliveries were carried out, but now it has reached 69 percent by April.

In the same way, they want to work hard so that births take place in government hospitals every month. He said that growth should be recorded with special focus on the districts which are recording government births lower than the state average. He said that special attention should be given to Karimnagar district which has high number of C sections and low performance in other parameters. A special team headed by the Joint Director of Maternity Department was sent for a week to observe the field and ordered to take appropriate action. The Minister has issued instructions to send the JD of the Immunization Department to the districts of Suryapet where immunization is low and take appropriate measures. Vanaparthi, Mahabubabad, Mahabubnagar, Warangal and Suryapet districts, which are ranked last in the overall performance of maternal health, should see progress, he said.

The commissioner was directed to take measures to improve the condition of 53 sub-centres found to be providing medical services at minimum level. They want to ensure that medicines are distributed in all PHCs through this medicine and that there is a minimum stock of three months. It is suggested that DMHOs should conduct reviews at sub-centre and PHC levels and go to the field level to examine the medical services being provided. Health Secretary Rizvi, Family Welfare Department Commissioner Shweta Mahanthi, DPH Srinivasa Rao, DMHOs of all districts, program officers and other medical officers participated in the teleconference.
