Early rains are haunting the Telugu states. Hail showers in some areas and tornadoes in others. Crops have already been badly damaged by these rains. Authorities said it would not rain for a few more days. Farmers are worried about this.

Premature rains subside during heavy snowfall. It is raining in both AP and Telangana states. These untimely rains are causing immense damage to the farmers. The surface periodicity formed in the southwestern Bay of Bengal and its environs extends up to 3.1 km above sea level. Due to this, it will rain for a few more days in AP and Telangana states.

Light to moderate rains are expected in the coastal areas till January 17. The Amravati Meteorological Department has also issued a yellow alert for the forecast for more than a week. Srikakulam, Vijayanagaram, Visakhapatnam and Godavari districts will receive moderate to heavy rains with thunder and lightning. Guntur, Krishna, Prakasam and Potti Sriram are also expected to receive light showers in Nellore district. Thundershowers and thunderstorms are likely in some places. Farmers with premature rains are advised to take care not to water grain, crop products and milk.

It has been raining in many districts of Telangana for the last five days. The Hyderabad Meteorological Department has forecast light to moderate rains with thunder and lightning till January 17. The Met Office has issued a yellow alert for a few more days of rain. Mahabubabad, Warangal, Mulugu, Bhadradri, Kottagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapeta, Janagam, Yadadri, Bhubaneswar and Nagercoil districts are likely to receive hailstorms. The effect of cold has also increased in the Telugu states due to the effect of rains.
